Heard a bit of Los Angeles 10/24/00 on sirius tonight. Pretty solid Romanza/Betterman/SITL there.

That's the plan - get those spreadsheets to me people!
From what I remember back in 2004, the Green Habit comp was made available for us less technologically inclined via traditional download vs. the torrents. My request is that we make this available like your other comps, Ridley, which are super easy to access and, I think, you always make them available in apple itunes form, too, which is great for us iphone users. I would happily donate to the cause to help, too. Thanks again for doing this.

Ridley, your efforts are always appreciated.

I'm late to this thread and haven't read through it all, so some of these may have been mentioned, but here's some of my favorites if ya wanna check them out:

Grievance: 9/1/00, Camden
Parting Ways 10/18/00, Lubbock
NAIS: 10/22/01, Seattle (PJ20 Soundtrack)
DTE: 7/13/98, Los Angeles (Live on Two Legs)
Alive: 7/22/98, Seattle (Eddie's voice is a little shot here but Mike' solo is off the hook)
Go: 11/30/93, Las Vegas
Animal: 3/5/98, Melbourne
Porch: 3/5/98, Melbourne
Why Go: 8/5/07, Lollapalooza
Black: 5/3/03, State College
Even Flow: 5/2/03, Buffalo
Not For You: 2/26/95, Manila (PJ20 Soundtrack)
Rats: 4/12/94, Boston

Look forward to this, Ridley. I'm sure it'll kick ass like all the compilations you make.

I think 2018 might be the year to get this project done - what do you say folks?

Perhaps going through each album (+ b-sides) and discussing our options is the way to do it?

Here's the shortlist for versions suggested so far for 'Ten'. Apologies if I missed any and feel free to add more or champion any already on the list.

Also, the spreadsheet posted on page 1 is still available for anyone who wants to bulk submit suggestions (many thanks to those you did this already - makes this job a lot easier :nice: )

Someone needs to give ridleybradout polling privileges to make this easier.

I've never been a fan of the "such and such album LIVE!" approach. I prefer the idea of maybe doing a 3-CD set that covers the 3 drummers. Or maybe just a general (or somewhat chronological) mix of live highlights. I dunno.

WCT and I have talked about this idea - I'm still very keen on it, but it is very much a separate thing.

This 'Definitive Live' isn't an 'X album LIVE!' set as such, it's more a comprehensive encyclopedia of definitive versions, simply organised by album.

Tracks would not be cross-faded together like a typical live compilation, they would be faded in and out as stand-alone songs, allowing them to be rearranged into whatever playlist the listener desires (by year for example).

That's fine. I could definitely pinpoint a few obscure tracks, but I'm no good when it comes to songs like Black. Maybe I could help whittle it down later.

I think the Black and Porch unpluggeds should be considered.

Nothing from "Unplugged," please.

My vote for "Black" is Lubbock 2000, and my "Porch" is SLC '95.

I also vote for the RCKNDY version of "Alive." Show the other Matt C. a little love.

This is probably my favorite live take of "Alive", and I would vote for it, but I have to ask:

Does it still count as "live" for something like this, since it was clearly "adjusted" somewhat in the studio? (At the very least, some of Ed's vocals were re-recorded - if you listen carefully, you can sometimes hear the "live" vocal in the background, where it was caught either from the PA or the monitors.)

Oh man, this sounds like legitimately fun homework. Is there a deadline on submissions?
