Martin Luther King Jr

Post by Electromatic »

I just wanted to appreciate Dr.Kings urgency today, everyone posts quotes but he was an incredible person who I feel like I learn from each time I go back and listen to his speeches or read about his life.

Obviously the work isn’t finished, but I definitely appreciate the difference he made in my life just one generation after his death.

A reminder to keep awake and be vigilant.

That's racist.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

When I was about 10 or so MLK day became a national holiday and not without controversy. I remember my father, lifelong southerner and very conservative, said not to let MLK become a hero to me. I was too young to question him further but I now really wish I asked him what he meant.

Well, he was a serial cheater and alleged abuser of women. Didn't Hoover try to blackmail him with recordings of it? He also trended socialist in later years, at which point "King is a communist" became a common lie, IIRC.
