The Celebration Rock podcast is good, in general. I really enjoyed the multi-part PJ retrospective they did. It's really good. I highly recommend it.

It was great, other than them bunching two of the band's best albums into one pod.

Yeah, that's fair. I would have preferred one episode per album, for sure.

Anyone else think it's weird that in the official band member bios on pearljam.com, Stone, Jeff, and Mike are described as "founding members" and Ed as having "served as Pearl Jam's front man since 1990"? They didn't become "Pearl Jam" until after he joined, right? Awkward wording, or power move by webmaster Stone Gossard?

It’s odd if that is intentional, although technically it’s correct. Many companies have changed their names, but still look back to the origins. Stone and Mike started playing together, brought in Jeff within a week or two. They worked on those songs for months before Ed was invited.

Name be damned, Ed was not a founding member. A band was in place when they brought him in as lead singer.

True, but "has served as front man" makes him sound like this guy:

That's Arnel Pineda, the Eddie Vedder of Journey.

I was just talking to a friend about going to the Boston shows, and while discussing songs we wanted to hear, I referred to Lightning Bolt as “the new album.”

Inadvertently calling Lightning Bolt their new album is less surprising to me than bringing it up in a conversation about songs you want to hear.
