Yeah, I'm a big fan.

Top 10? I'm positive I'll want to change this tomorrow.

Piggy in the Mirror
The Big Hand
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep
The Drowning Man
Dressing Up
How Beautiful You Are
The Same Deep Water as You
The Walk
The Figurehead
Shake Dog Shake
Lament
Just One Kiss
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep
Disintegration
M
Just Like Heaven
A Night Like This
Primary
To Wish Impossible Things
The Same Deep Water as You

Feels like there should be more earlier stuff on here, but that's just off the top of my head.

Nice, I moved Lament and Just One Kiss in and out a few times before deciding on a firm 10. Great songs, the 1983-1984 period is probably my favourite era for the band.

So apparently they played that 50-song, 4-hour plus show in Mexico City just hours after a 5.9-magnitude earthquake. It was also Robert's 54th birthday.

Im not a cure fan at all, but thats incredible...5 hour? amazing....Plus, i was with two big big fans from the band, talking about their feelings about the BA show, i realize how much in common they had with me (me with pj) in terms of how they feel about the band, their music, their records...
One of them was at the opening band rehersal room and Robert came in unannounced with some champaing form them...a really nice down to earth gesture from a rock and roll star like Smith.

Really cool.

5 hours, wow Robert is a madman. That's a perfect looking setlist too. I feel bad for him that he's cut most of the recent stuff from the set, but the man is accutely aware of what the best of his back catalogue is.

The 3+ hour show I saw in 2008 was one of the best/most fun gigs ever. It would take a little extra "stimulation" to get me to 5 hours though. And maybe a massage break.

It's kinda crazy that I still can't buy "The Cure in Orange" on DVD. :|
Robert said it would be released in 2010 and still nothing. He's a damn liar!

I think it's still being worked on, Tim Pope (the director) posted a picture of them getting the original film reels out on Twitter recently.

I put "The Crow" soundtrack on for the first time in a long time tonight. Damn, "Burn" is a fucking great song. I read somewhere that they have never played it live, despite many requests to do so. Seems weird.

As far as latter-day Cure material goes, I've always loved this one:

True or false: the instrumental demo version of "Lovesong" sounds more like a Disintegration song than the Disintegration version of "Lovesong".

Some of the "chimey" guitar parts and the keys, yes. And it has more of a "watery" quality to it, which is a theme in Disintegration. But most of those Disintegration demos sound like crap, so it's kinda hard to judge.

So I'm looking to get more into this band beyond just their singles, but I'm not really sure where to start. Anyone feel like throwing me some recommendations? I'm not looking for an album to start with so much as a general path of making it through all their music. Their enormous discography seems pretty intimidating. Which albums are considered to be them at their peak? Are there any missteps or albums I should stay away from? Should I bother with checking out their compilations? Etc., etc.

The Head On The Door is one of their best, and it's prob their most acessible.

Be sure to get Disintegration also. Their best album.

Good start there.
