i feel like the 311 rumor and the "Marilyn Manson is the kid from Wonder Years" rumor were like 6 months apart.
that was a good year.

the 311 rumor was that 'K' is the 11th letter in the alphabet, so 311 meant KKKdurdencommatyler wrote:I never heard the 311 one but I do remember the Marilyn Manson one.bodysnatcher wrote:PHATJ wrote:Lol, kindabodysnatcher wrote:remember the rumor that 311 stood for the KKK?

I have never ever listened to a 311 song. I didnt know they were a band until 2005 when a guy told me he liked that band. Of course i didnt know what he was talking about.
Bruno Mars is really talented but man, he beat Lamar? Lorde? Bullshit. He music is so fucking safe and bland it hurts.

I agree with PHATJ too but I don't think his last album reflected any of that. It was too slick and over-produced. I have some of his earlier stuff and it's more soulful and personal...not look at me! big popstar! with all the money and the girls!durdencommatyler wrote:PHATJ gets it.PHATJ wrote:I don’t own/couldn’t name a single Bruno Mars album. Hell, when I was in high school we ran the gamut from talking about Rod Stewart and stomach pumping and Marilyn Manson's rib removal.bodysnatcher wrote:PHATJ wrote:Lol, kindabodysnatcher wrote:remember the rumor that 311 stood for the KKK?

Hahaha
The only song I like of "his" is Uptown Funk bc he name drops my hometown.
Otherwise, I don't care one way or the other about Bruno Mars. He is what he is, and a lot of people love it... so go have fun and shake your money maker.

Modern pop, especially in the US, lots of bad stuff. I checked the entire billboard 100 last summer, and nearly every song was pure garbage. But Bruno Mars has an amazing talent. A class above the rest. He has some great singles as well, and a real presence, that few entertainers can match.

There’s tons of great pop music out there right now. I think it’s the only vital genre of music going right now. Mars has a couple songs that are okay but he bores me overall. “Uptown Funk” is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard.Anders wrote:Modern pop, especially in the US, lots of bad stuff. Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
what do you mean by vital? as in, something being commoditized into lining the pockets of record industry peoples? or, the genre that is the best example of this era of human?
