He nearly broke into his natural cadence and tone of voice when he said "high school."

This isn't saying much but this is probably the most presidential he has ever sounded.

It's fairly striking how the Republican Party has shed even a concilatory or superficial attempt to be seen as the "fiscal discipline" party in just one or two years. This was one of the chief ways they wanted themselves defined during Obama's tenure; there seems to be a complete ideological incoherence in the party.

Maybe balanced budgets are on the platform, but I don't recall when that garnered more than lip service. Fiscal discipline was more Gingrich era, yeah?digster wrote:It's fairly striking how the Republican Party has shed even a concilatory or superficial attempt to be seen as the "fiscal discipline" party in just one or two years. Opposition to Obama was more about over stepping presidential authority and expanding the government role, with fiscal issues being a secondary consideration.

Well at least they've stopped pretending. There hasn't been a real small government major party in my lifetime.digster wrote:It's fairly striking how the Republican Party has shed even a concilatory or superficial attempt to be seen as the "fiscal discipline" party in just one or two years. I may have mis-stated the tea party position in here somewhere. Apparently the Tea Party is dead, per National Review.simple schoolboy wrote:Maybe balanced budgets are on the platform, but I don't recall when that garnered more than lip service. "In his interview with Piers Morgan, Trump had spoken of his own experience dealing with the EU. He has previously complained to its leaders that, as a businessman, the bloc had made it difficult for him to set up golf courses."
[*]It should be difficult to pass hurdles and get licences in these instances. Someone might be wishing to use the golf course for money laundering activities for example
[*]He shouldnt be drawing attention to his golf courses.

Not to harp on a tired subject but, speaking as a white male, it was quite an eye opener. to see how white and overwhelmingly male the GOP membership looked.

The bit at 3:17 about that Homeland Security Agent named CJ is awesome!
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
