Go Rotterdam 1993-07-16 is insanely awesome as well. Hell I have listened to this as much as the studio version.

Atlanta is a gut-wrenching throat-ripper, just the way I like my Go.
But the Vegas Animal gets my vote.

For Daughter, Jones Beach 2000-08-24 (It's Okay tag) is my first choice followed by Washington DC 1998-09-19 (LO2L - RITFW/WMA tags).
Dissident - Washington DC 1998-09-19 - a good version of a meh song
Definitely Glorified G from Atlanta 94

I'll throw my vote to Toronto for Dissident, though the Vegas 93 version (not listed above) is pretty great too

As much as I love the VMA version of Animal, I like what Jack did with the song. Red Rock '95 is a pretty solid version:

I agree, about Dissident, I've never been crazy about it. The Inglewood one from the 98 vault show is good though, also, San Francisco 2006.doone wrote: Dissident - Washington DC 1998-09-19 - a good version of a meh song

Unless there's a soundboard, I don't think it's up for consideration. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯darth_vedder wrote:As much as I love the VMA version of Animal, I like what Jack did with the song. Red Rock '95 is a pretty solid version:

Go is going to be a tight battle between these two.doone wrote:I'll argue.rimb wrote:True, just re-listened to Vegas and hard to argue.E.H. Ruddock wrote:That's nice and all, but I'm not in it for the intro. That Vegas version is hot fire

The Vegas Animal is spoilt by Ed yelling ‘be careful!’ in the middle of the last chorus. There actually aren’t many soundboard Dave A versions of Animal - may have to go with Atlanta...

Daughter conundrum:
Cleveland 2006-05-20 (It's Okay tag)
- Not up to scratch
Lisbon 2006-09-05 (It's Okay tag)
- Unlike many 2006 versions this is nice and slow. Great crowd participation. The It's Okay tag is very good and concludes with an awesome Mike solo.
Milan 2000-06-22 (no tag, awesome call and response)
- Excellent main song, some great drum work, and the call and response is an all time classic (the birth of the ay-oh-ay chant?)
Jones Beach 2000-08-24 (It's Okay tag)
- Main song is serviceable, I know this version of the tag is well loved around here but some of the weird lyric changes have always bothered me ("Hope in an alleyway" WTF?)
Rotterdam 1993-07-16 (WMA tag)
- Not bad, though end of song is cut off. Not sure if we should use a WMA tag.
Washington DC 1998-09-19 (LO2L - RITFW/WMA tags)
- If we do use a WMA tag I think this is the one

I stand by my Daughter choices, Jones beach or Washington DC.

you are seeking to identify the definitive live version of 'Daughter' and non-Dave Abbruzzese versions are being considered

SomeNumbersUP makes a good point - maybe Vegas, Atlanta and Orpheum versions should be in contention?96583UP wrote:you are seeking to identify the definitive live version of 'Daughter' and non-Dave Abbruzzese versions are being considered

I would definitely slide Atlanta into contention, even if Atlanta is appearing so often in this album set. That take got enough radio airplay in '94, it could almost be considered the released single for the song. (As short as it is, I still love that "Wall" singalong.)ridleybradout wrote:SomeNumbersUP makes a good point - maybe Vegas, Atlanta and Orpheum versions should be in contention?
I love the VMA performance, if only Ed weren't so hammered.ridleybradout wrote:The Vegas Animal is spoilt by Ed yelling ‘be careful!’ in the middle of the last chorus. There actually aren’t many soundboard Dave A versions of Animal - may have to go with Atlanta...
Speaking of which - did anyone ever transfer the mix of the VMA performance (just "Animal") from the "Go" cassette? I've been meaning to transfer it myself.

I adore the studio version of Sleight Of Hand but I've never really heard a live version that's heavy/intense enough. Anyone got any recommendations? That chorus needs to sound massive.

Re: Pearl Jam - Definitive Live Versions (a Green Habit sequ
I did. It's on the b-sides comp. It's a much better mix without the engineer flub at the beginning, but there has been a layer of fake crowd noise added to it. The cassette also wobbles like a motherfucker.UglyRedHonda wrote: Speaking of which - did anyone ever transfer the mix of the VMA performance (just "Animal") from the "Go" cassette?
