Grinderman is a distraction compared to the Bad Seeds' best work. I'm pumped for the record and that I get to see them live.

Yeah...I was just saying that I wouldn't have minded the monicker never coming up and those songs to be more 'Bad Seeds' than they are, if that makes sense. The records aren't bad just not up to the best he did with the Seeds.VinylGuy wrote:i wasnt saying they were better, but they were fucking awesome. I've never really been a NCBS fan during the release of a new record (didn't really get into them until just after "D!LD!" came out); this is always an exciting experience to go through for the first time with a band.

I might try to make it to Chicago on April Fools Day. Sharon Van Etten is opening, which is a major deal-sweetener.

The new song is beautiful, haunting melody with Nick´s deep quiet voice...Awesome.

On first listen, this doesn't hold a candle to Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus or Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!. I'll give it more time but both of those grabbed me on many more songs than any did on this first listen. Grinderman apparently neutered the Bad Seeds.

Better on second listen. On my third or fourth now...definitely don't think this is as good as AB or DLD!!!, but there's still hope. Boatman's Call and No More Shall We Part aren't as good as Let Love In but they're still good records.Gods' Die wrote:On first listen, this doesn't hold a candle to Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus or Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!.
