Should we continue our current path, getting angry after every shooting, shaming Republicans for accepting NRA donations and expecting Democrats to pass bold reform, only to see nothing change and, in many instances, legislation becoming less restrictive? https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/ar ... ns/541905/
I'm assuming you're like me and that you don't live in an area with a high number of people carrying concealed weapons. So my bias is to imagine this scenario as odd, or as you say, a hellscape, but it's probably more likely than it's perfectly normal to the people that live in these areas. We already have kids practicing lockdown drills, is an armed teacher with the proper training really that much worse?

So you would make no concessions and change nothing about the left's approach to dealing with this issue, even if, as the link I posted alluded to, it becomes counter productive? Is there a different restriction you would concede if it meant getting change that you want?LoathedVermin72 wrote:I grew up in the Midwest. I live in Colorado. I have been around guns my whole life. If the NRA ever stops blocking funding to gun research and the CDC presents evidence that loosening restrictions on gun free zones reduces shootings, would you change your stance?
I just want to state that I have no idea what the answer is, I just know that what we're doing is not working.

Gun deaths since 1968 (when data first started being collected) - 1,516,863
Americans killed in War since Americas founding (including Revolutionary War, Civil War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq 1, Afghanistan, Iraq 2 and many others) - 1,396,733
1 - Its shocking how low the number killed in war is, when you consider how many Russians, Germans, Chinese, Japanese and Jews suffered during WW2. Those 4 countries all lost more in WW2 than the US has lost total.
2 - How can anyone seriously say we do not have a gun problem in this country? You are statistically safer living in a war zone as an American.

But aren't the majority of gun deaths in America suicides? Unless you're the one pulling the trigger, I'm pretty sure America is safer than a war zone.MadTIGERmaN wrote:Gun deaths since 1968 (when data first started being collected) - 1,516,863

Aaron Feis, assistant football coach and school security specialist was trying to shield students from bullets when he was fatally shot.

drone bodyguards can solve this
let them fly around schools with x-ray vision and spot weirdos walking in with AR-15's
then the robots fire lasers at the shooter's eyes and dick

That's the funny part, school shootings are only 1% of all mass shootings in America. Majority of mass shootings are at work places. So we could turn schools into the most secure facility in the world, and its only going to take off a small percentage of gun deaths. But dead kids on the news is way more riveting than Bob and Jim on the floor of some office building after Jerry decided to go on a rampage because he didn't get his raise.
Course there are neighborhoods in America that are probably worse than some war zones.

AND of course we can't have nice things: Tons of comments on the video about how it's actually an illegal modification and he's going to get a visit from the ATF.

Its kinda what led to Ruby Ridge. In that case it was shotguns with barrels cut down just shy of the legal limit. He won't get a visit from the ATF for the same reason the DC? New York? police didn't visit the reporter that brought a 30 round magazine into the city for a 60 minutes or whatever.bune wrote:

The language is sufficiently vague as to possibly prohibit any after market modification (springs, bolt carrier, etc.). I look forward to being a felon because of slightly lighter trigger pull.Bi_3 wrote:https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/20/politics ... index.html
