Enjoy! It's an A+. My only complaint was there were a few quests that you had do immediately after receiving them and that they could not be restarted. Meaning, if you were in the middle of something else, you would get a failed quest. Only a few were like that though.

Bloodborne and Ratchet and Clank are the free PS Plus games next month. That is an incredible one, two punch.

Also announced today: no more PS3 or Vita games after March 2019. Still a year away, but now I have a date when I will almost certainly buy a PS4.

You better be banking all of these stellar PS4 PS Plus games.

Oh definitely, I've been "buying" them since the PS4 came out. I forgot to order games one month last year but I don't think the titles were stellar.

You will have a pretty incredible backlog to get through.

Yeah Bloodborne has been on my list of games to try. I've also heard that it's a brutally difficult game so i've been hesitant to jump on it.

Difficult, but fair. It is one of the most satisfying games I've ever played when defeating a boss or getting past a difficult part.

It's that difficult but fair combo which makes it such a awesome experience. Once you get the rhythm of the mechanics down you're going to be in for a hell of a ride.

I've been known to farm a certain section of the final Chalice dungeon for Blood Echoes from time time in preparation for a New Game Plus run. I can't wait to replay that game sometime this year.

Witcher 3 thoughts a few hours in...

-I need to brush up on some lore. I have no idea who any of these people are.
-A lot of care has gone into the writing for these side missions. Good art direction and pacing too.
-Combat is kind of clunky.
-Riding the horse is fun.
-This game is HUUUUUGGGGGEEEE.
-I need to figure out how/when to use the magical abilities.
-I have no idea what is worth upgrading or not or what/when to craft.

i ran into most of the same issues as you. it was a daunting experience for the first 10-15 hours because the game absolutely does not hold your hand. and it's really easy to wander into an area full of OP enemies. regarding the lore i found the game parcels out important backstory on most of the characters you run into through dialogue. as far as the abilities and crafting go, like most action rpgs i found that for the first portion of the game you'll manage just fine with whatever junk gear you happen to pick up/loot. just make sure you have a couple of backup pieces for when your main one needs repain. crafting didn't feel that important until i discovered my first skilled blacksmith and realized i could craft some cool gear. near the end game i was getting pretty obsessed with crafting full sets and putting upgrade gems or whatever they were in there. I need another Witcher playthrough.

just wait til you get addicted to gwent

Never cared for the combat in Witcher. Otherwise that game is incredible. The writing is so impressive. Need to play it again.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom comes out later this month. Looks like it could be the first 2018 game to grab - for me.

I bought The Witcher 1 and 2 for fuck all on Steam and couldn't stand the clunky combat, especially after beating Dark Souls a week or so prior. I *wanted* to like it, but alas...

Started the Telltale Batman series. Pretty solid so far. The engine runs much better than some of their previous games.
