Ooh I kind of like this idea. Could end the series with Ezra going back into the portal somewhere and just disappearing
It’s possible. Remember Ahsoka is still in play too. I kind of think they’re going to kill him?
The way he says ‘may the force be with you all’ suggests he’s gonna sacrifice himself maybe?
Anyone’s guess. But I hope it’s made clear and not left all mysterious is he dead or not? As with Ahsoka after season two. They can’t go to that well again leaving us all hanging.

The doorways out of it all seem personal to him I think. Though on me of the portals have fathiers running around them. (The horses in TLJ) could that be a link to the future? Ezra survives and trains Broom boy? Anyone’s guess.

Going off the assumption that the Temple on Lothal is the only temple with this kind of portal. Why else would the emperor pick that one when there temples all over the galaxy? Presumably he’s had them all raided and investigated to see what’s in them? The emperor would have free access to the Jedi archives and library on Coruscant at this point so he knows basically everything they knew. And they knew an awful lot. It was also originally built over a Sith temple so perhaps the portal he was trying to access is in that structure underneath the main Jedi temple? Who knows. Doubt we will see it used ever again.
Time travel (it wasn’t really time travel) won’t be a thing in Star Wars.

Unless Ezra goes back in and re-emerges 30 years later? That could fix not having to kill him off and get him out of the way of the OT and Luke can still be the only Jedi left?

Rambling but just some ideas
Ahsoka was pulled from one point in time to the present and then went back. Semantics I know, but that is time travel.

I'm not really a fan of Ezra jumping forward in time or re-emerging later. Just let Luke be the last Jedi from that era (and Ahsoka in a way).

But she didn’t go back to that exact moment. Time has passsed for Ezra in there, he doesn’t come out a second after he went in, so presumably same is true for her. I think Filoni said she’s come out same moment as Ezra so two years later or so?
I guess you could call it time travel from a certain point of view but it’s more of a force thing it’s not like Star destroyers are doing it.

One of the cooler aspects of it is it adds to what Luke was saying in TLJ. There is no ceiling on force and what it can be used for. The Jedi got stuck in their ways. If anything Palpatine is trying to explore more than we’ve ever seen them do.

It's still time travel, regardless of the vehicle by which it happened. I'd be ok with it if this is the only time it happens. Just seems to introduce way too may mcguffins when used frequently.

I do enjoy the different ways the Force has been widened in scope over the last few releases.

I guess I’d call it time travel if it changed something in the past. It’s definitely been a divisive inclusion though for sure.

Maybe all that time travel caused the stuttering.

Bryan had a chance to sit down and talk to Dave Filoni about the coming finale of Rebels. They talk about the episodes leading up to the end of Star Wars Rebels. The conversation sheds light on things we might have seen in the previous episodes. And then, there's a roundtable Q & A with Dave from others in the fan press.

So it’s officially not time travel. It’s a visual representing of the same thing Luke saw in his vision on dagobah of han and Leia in pain.

The above interview is a great listen so far

So, what saved Ahsoka then? Or was she even saved?

He’s being his usual totally evasive non answer guy on that question.

Yeah. That was a satisfying ending.
Spoiler: show
Couple across the board points.

1. How it ended really feels set up by Rogue One. I found myself just accepting that these heroes dont get mentioned again. Just a small band completing their mission. A minor victory that leads to a greater hope and a larger rebellion. It made it way easier for people like Zeb and Kallus to survive. And that so few members of the rebellion even knew of the existence of the jedi in the earlier days. Very few people were exposed to Kanan and Ezra.

2. The way Ezra went out was very very good. Dead or Alive, it was handled in a way that explains why we dont hear of him again. A heroic sacrifice to eliminate a ruthless, brilliant man.

3. Episodes did not have enough Chopper.

4. I.... really liked Hondo's role in this.

5. The Dark Humor at the death of Rhook was fantastic.

6. The narration by a grown Sabine at the end was top notch. The chemistry between her and Ezra in these last 2 episodes was fantastic. As was the growth of Ezra as a leader. Backup plans, sacrifices, contingencies on a need to know basis, etc.

7. Hera having a Kanan baby was unexpected and a nice touch. Especially since the child kept her name. Jason (Jacen?) Syndulla I imagine will eventually play a role as a budding Jedi.

8. I hope the Sabine/Ahsoka hunting for Ezra material is done as an animated show because I will watch the fuck outta that.
