See them live. His solo stuff POPS with the band and there are some absolute monsters on the last couple records. The records never do them justice.

They have taken the place as best live band for ol' strat.

i get the cathartic release that Pearl Jam once did.

The NYE shows were absurdly incredible.
Glad to hear, Strat!
I'm listening to 12-29 show now. Based on setlist this would be my easy pick of the 3 night stand.

Which night was your favorite?

note: all shows are up on archive.org. Sound very nice

Night 3 was very special. That was my big night though they all complement each other perfectly. They know how to curate a weekend. I loved the covers and the Like a Rolling Stone was fantastic on night 2.

Night 2 and 3 were tops but 3 takes it for me.

Cobra, Tropics, Gideon, Victory Dance, wordless chorus, the covers....all fantastic.

I think the NYE show was broadcast on JamOn. When that one surfaces, do you mind letting me know?

Wow, what a crazy few shows they just played down at One Big Holiday.

All 7 albums played front to back over 3 nights

That is pretty cool. They usually release the OBH shows on nugs.net, so I would keep an eye out for downloads. Shame they ended up skipping so many good b-sides and non-album tracks, though.

At least they played Cobra! I'm most excited about that 2nd show. Hopefully released soon.

For some reason, I've never really got into these guys. It's not that I don't like them, I do, but I've just never really gone out of my way to listen to them.

I've been correcting that lately via Spotify, and the 'It Still Moves' album particularly. I'm going to try and listen to more of their albums over the next week, and started 'Z' yesterday. So far, I'm like 'It Sill Moves' more. What should I listen to next RM?

Everything from The Tennessee Fire to Okonokos is incredible (TTF, At Dawn, ISM, Z, Okonokos).

Evil Urges sucks.

Circuital is ok but a couple notches below their best.

The Waterfall is slightly better than Circuital.

I was leaning towards TTF next, so I think I'll go with that.

Just listened to "Lay Low" from Z, it was right up my alley.

I had to hear them live to get it

Check out some of the live cuts (vid or audio) from Okonokos shows:
Steam Engine, Dondante, I Will Sing You Songs, Phone Went West, Think I'm Going to Hell, Strangulation

another recording i think is criminally underrated is this live in studio performance

Is it wrong that I love and hate "Highly Suspicious" from Evil Urges?

No, but you're going down a dangerous path. It's a slippery slope from there to, "Actually, I kinda like 'Librarian'..."

I really enjoy EU. Despite some duds.
Smokin from Shootin may be one of their best songs

Highly Suspicious is excellent live. Don't really care for the studio version

I grew to like parts of Circuital after seeing them live. But At Dawn through Z is still the band's golden era for sure.

Interesting to read the different perspectives on them. I am pretty sure Z is my second favorite album by anyone and still grows on me every time I hear it. My second favorite from them is It Still Moves, then The Waterfall and Cicuital. The first two albums I like but have a harder time with because they plodded around a little much for my tastes. Evil Urges has to be the bottom but I appreciated the effort to try and change things up. Librarian does pretty much ruin the album.
