Following some new photos yesterday, more stills have cropped up along with confirmed news of an August 30th launch date for “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” Netflix’s upcoming prequel series to the iconic 1982 Jim Henson fantasy film.

Louis Leterrier helms the ten-episode fantasy adventure series blends classic puppetry with cutting-edge visual effects in a story that begins as the world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land.

I'm very hopeful. It's not like the Dark Crystal is some massive franchise that they can half ass to make a buck. I have to imagine those involved must really love that world to get this greenlite and want to do something really special. Maybe that's naive.

There's a third book but for some reason Goodreads doesn't show it in the group view. It's basically what the show is going to be about, but I bet the show is better written.
