Pearl Jam's new track from their forthcoming album on Monkeywrench/Republic Records is out now!

“Can’t Deny Me” was co-produced by Pearl Jam and Brendan O'Brien. The track was recorded in Seattle last month and released as a surprise early download to Ten Club members last Saturday.

Eddie wrote the song's lyrics set to music written by Mike. Jeff created the single's artwork in collaboration with PJ's longtime Videographer, Kevin Shuss.

“Can’t Deny Me” is available now in the SHOP and via all digital download and streaming services.

Pearl Jam kicks off their TOUR of South America in Santiago, Chile today.

Relatively speaking, it hardly ever happens. One of my favorite things in life.

The lyrics are lazy and godawful all the way through, but yeah, I still like this song. Eddie's voice is rough and ragged in a pleasing way, the guitars are choppy and dirty enough, Matt's drums sound nice and deep, the song has an enjoyably herky-jerky propulsion behind it, and some of the little touches hint ever-so-slightly at some possible loose experimentation/weirdness (cash register sounds in the opening, for example). Nothing particularly inspiring, but solid. Definitely more interesting than 99% of what they've done in the last decade+.

Right now I’d rate this song about 6.5 out of 10. It has something going for it, maybe mostly that it seems like somewhat new territory, but I’m guessing that’s just because this is new PJ and I’m excited to hear it. But right now, this actually makes me a little more hopeful that the new album might be a bit more inspired than the last decade’s output. At least this seems like a song with some new ideas musically, which could be promising. I’ll probably think it sucks in two weeks, but for now I’m enjoying the new PJ.
