Marker In The Sand (2017 Mix) just came on a playlist there... it is amazing how Ed's lyrics have gone down the toilet. There is no nuance anymore, and it's not because it's not the time for it. It's because he doesn't engage with discourse. It's like the music, it vacuum packed with as much studio magic to make his singing sound angry and passionate but it's a distraction. It's an audio girdle

Avocado is sounding good though. I've always had a soft spot for the album besides the production issues, but I like to see it more as the resolution to Binaural/Riot Act these days, rather than the evolution to where they are now.

The track was recorded in Seattle last month and released as a surprise early download to Ten Club members last Saturday.

I'm not in the 10C anymore so don't know what the email said but this makes it seem like it was never an Xmas single.

Yeah, if I end up getting an album track pressed onto my 45, I will be quite disappointed in my 2017 single.

Last Kiss was released widely after being a fan club single, but at least fans got a double single the following year as an apology.

The lyrics are lazy and godawful all the way through, but yeah, I still like this song. Eddie's voice is rough and ragged in a pleasing way, the guitars are choppy and dirty enough, Matt's drums sound nice and deep, the song has an enjoyably herky-jerky propulsion behind it, and some of the little touches hint ever-so-slightly at some possible loose experimentation/weirdness (cash register sounds in the opening, for example). Nothing particularly inspiring, but solid. Definitely more interesting than 99% of what they've done in the last decade+.

Agreed. Like, if this was their worst song since Riot Act, no one would have jumped ship. Alas, it's pretty much their best one instead.

So, I’ve tempered my initial distaste for this song. Still hate the lyrics. But, the rest of the song is working for me now. Wish there was more of Jeff in it. He really comes on strong right at the end and then it’s over.
