Yes, that sounds really interesting.

"Tweeting about the home release, Johnson revealed his favourite special feature is a ‘silent’ version of the film that cuts out all the dialogue and sound effects, and amps up Williams’ music. “I really wanted to put this out, it’s really something to see John’s music play with the movie, like a silent film,” he wrote."

Oh man, my son's going to love that one. He's been listening to the soundtrack pretty much every day.

It’s Star Wars come full circle In a way.
George always envisioned them to be silent movies with the score playing over.
And with Williams being such a magician and having composed such amazing music you Watch it that way.

It's consistent with how terrible of a shot everyone is in Star Wars.Rangi Guy wrote:Why can't she keep the gun steady? Her shot's going to go widedurdencommatyler wrote:

Watching all the making of docos and deleted scenes. Man this is the stuff I really really love.
So awesome.
Saving the Director and the Jedi til last.

FWIW, isolated score soundtracks on home video are nothing new. It sounds like they're trying to play this up into some unique, innovative thing, but it isn't.

FWIW I haven't seen anything that has implied that it is anything unique or innovative. So if that commentary is out there, it's not prevailing.LoathedVermin72 wrote:FWIW, isolated score soundtracks on home video are nothing new. Did you...did you read the posts in this thread about it? Or Johnson's tweets about it?durdencommatyler wrote:FWIW I haven't seen anything that has implied that it is anything unique or innovative. It’s no big deal if it’s been done before. It is a big deal it’s happening in Star Wars for the first time though

This doco The Director and the Jedi, is the best making of doco I can remember since the LOTR ones. It’s packed with all the good stuff. And has the in-depth eye it deserves at 90minutes.
