Of the Girl and then I legitimately don't know which other song to pick. Went with SoH but don't feel good about it.

Re: Binaural Survivor: Round 4
Are people seriously changing their votes to oust SoH?
Its top tier, maybe their best. Certainly the most artistic. Complex, subtle, lyrics and delivery perfectly matched to the atmosphere of interweaving guitars culminating in a confused, desperate and mournful wall of sound at 4:05. Chills every time.
How can you love Tremor Christ and not love Sleight of Hand? They're the early and middle PJ equivalents of each other.

I love TC and generally could care less about SoH. I completely get what the song is going for, but find myself totally disengaged from the performance.ItsOkay wrote:Are people seriously changing their votes to oust SoH?![]()

Re: Binaural Survivor: Round 4
I love Tremor Christ very much, but Sleight of Hand exceeds it in every way.
This may be the strongest collection of songs remaining, and while I think they may have made better records than Binaural, I'm hard-pressed to say that the second half of the record is not the band's finest run of material on an album. I'll go with Light Years and Of The Girl, but all of these songs should advance.

I will NOT stand idly by while people continue to shamelessly promote an otherwise mediocre song.Monkey_Driven wrote:You shut your damn mouth.Chris_H_2 wrote:it's a boring slog, and if people didn't have such a hard on for Jeff, and if this was written by ed (or boom), people would hate it.durdencommatyler wrote:Sleight of Hand is so fucking good. I love Gods' Dice as well. i don't dislike either NAIS or insignificance, but i can't say i like them either (i'm very neutral on them).Anders wrote:I love Gods' Dice as well. on NAIS, i remember hearing it as the first single back in 2000 as the follow up to yield and wondering what the hell they were thinking. they certainly have made some curious choices for lead singles over their career.

I have never loved a lead single more. Was uncertain about Insignificance, but now I love it just as much.Chris_H_2 wrote:i don't dislike either NAIS or insignificance, but i can't say i like them either (i'm very neutral on them).Anders wrote:I love Gods' Dice as well. I find myself emotionally engaged in watching a lonely man drive home while sorrowfully reflecting on a life that has passed him by, and identify with hopes unrealized but not entirely annihilated (and hence the sorrow).stip wrote:I love TC and generally could care less about SoH. Re: Binaural Survivor: Round 4
like I said, I understand the idea behind it. i just dont find it engaging. I feel like it wallows, some of the lyrics are slightly clunky (and the song doesnt flow past the them easily), and Eddie’s performance doesnt reach me. It is sucessfuly executed but I dont really care. Elderly Woman is similar thematically and I find it resonates a lot more (in part because it rises above itself in places)
