Is this about what kind of songs bro's can enjoy? Rocking out and avoiding emotion? I guess I thought the fanbase was a little beyond that by now...

I like big wave! The music helps. Pretty's not a problem.
Overdone and uninterestingly applied is.
I actually think that AtW has some of the better lyrics on Backspacer....in the verses. It's mostly the choruses and the extremity of the retreading that make it suck hard.

There's something sexual about that last sentence. But anyway, yes, I don't think the choruses are quite as substantial as the verses. But I think that about a lot of PJ songs. They should be turning more verses and bridges into choruses.McParadigm wrote:Pretty's not a problem.

They should attempt a mash-up, title it "Amongst the Big Waves".

A pop punk version of ATW is actually not hard to imagine.

They should keep the music and melody of ATW and change every word to either 'Big' or 'Wave'theplatypus wrote:They should attempt a mash-up, title it "Amongst the Big Waves".

That song must've took work, it shows to me, and in a good way. Matt's drumming is really cool there, he's doing a few subtle stutter step things that keep me coming back. And Ed's doing a good job on the melody. To come up with crisp, pointed lyrics that hit, show a brief progression of notes and be brought back to something familiar using rhymes, and done really fast at a high BPM is awesome. Sounds fun and tossed off and there's no let up in the song, and moves like a train. A nice break in the album before Gone which is sometimes a little droney depending on my mood. I dig it and always have.

Neither do I. They're my least favourite albums, but Big Wave is the only song ruining S/T (along with production and track ordering issues). The only song I hate on Backspacer is Supersonic, and Backspacer is affected by my hatred of that song simply because it's so short.Thejambi wrote:I don't hate S/T or Backspacer.Hatfield wrote:So people hate on S/T and Backspacer but like ATW and Big Wave?!
