Tremor Christ really is an amazing achievement. Where Get Right showed us what was to come in the next decade (for better or worse) on Riot Act, Thremor Christ does it here. It's like the first taste of No Code and Yield, but with the best of the Vs/Vitalogy sound. Great lyrics as well.

Corduroy and Betterman are Top 3 Pearl Jam. Or at least Top 5.cutuphalfdead wrote:those are literally the two best songs on the album

It's such an incredible songs and one of the most uniquely Pearl Jam songs Ive heard. I can't really think of another song that sounds like this. And unlike their later efforts this isn't just unique, but also good.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Corduroy sucks
The lyrics are some of Eddie's best. The way the song builds and flows is amazing. Its wonderfully constructed, and wonderfully sung as well.
Its very possible that the transition into the bridge here is the best moment in the pearl jam catalog. Its certainly up there.

Yes, Get Right is like the first Backspacer song.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Huh????????Anders wrote:Tremor Christ really is an amazing achievement. There are songs on Backspacer that are better than Get Right, but still.LoathedVermin72 wrote:This is a ludicrous takeAnders wrote:Yes, Get Right is like the first Backspacer song.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Huh????????Anders wrote:Tremor Christ really is an amazing achievement. As somebody who likes Backspacer at least a little bit and hates Riot Act, Get Right is more interesting than the songs on Backspacer.Anders wrote:Yes, Get Right is like the first Backspacer song.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Huh????????Anders wrote:Tremor Christ really is an amazing achievement. I bet if Backspacer sounded more like Get Right it'd be a LOT better.
Some of that is performance and production based though I gotta admit. Its hard for me to imagine a Backspacer with this guitar sound and this Eddie. But I bet it could have been pretty great.

It's bottom three for me on Riot Act. It lacks that grit and punch you find on Vs and Vitalogy, and has that modern day Pearl Jam feel to it. And not in a good way.mikejasond wrote:As somebody who likes Backspacer at least a little bit and hates Riot Act, Get Right is more interesting than the songs on Backspacer.Anders wrote:Yes, Get Right is like the first Backspacer song.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Huh????????Anders wrote:Tremor Christ really is an amazing achievement. Get Right is noisy and weird. Backspacer is not.

It's not a very good song. If you don't see that, it will be difficult to agree. But surely you can hear how it's typical of modern 21st century Pearl Jam.LoathedVermin72 wrote:You just made it even more ludicrousAnders wrote:There are songs on Backspacer that are better than Get Right, but still.LoathedVermin72 wrote:This is a ludicrous takeAnders wrote:Yes, Get Right is like the first Backspacer song.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Huh????????Anders wrote:Tremor Christ really is an amazing achievement. I love Ed’s muted, low vocals, Jeff’s punchy, funky bass, and the grinding, noisy guitars. I could not disagree with you more.Anders wrote:It's got no punch, weak singing, nothing exciting about it.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Get Right is noisy and weird. Backspacer is not.
