Do we have any demos from songs that show us a drastic difference from whatever the writer came up with to how it ended up? Other than the fixer and puzzles and games maybe?

And when people say Eddie had most control over an album what does that mean about the songs he didn't write? Stuff like tremor christ or something, did he arrange those too or does he just work with what the band/writer gives him? I've always wondered.

Nothing As It Seems and Speed of Sound demos are pretty different than what they ended up doing.

With regard specifically to Tremor Christ, I'm pretty sure that sprung up out of a rehearsal happening in New Orleans, and the song just came together very quickly. Jeff, I think, mentioned that a lot of Vitalogy was coming out of jams at soundchecks and practice (as they were on the road throughout the making as much of it). You can kind of hear that, especially in something like Tremor Christ or Not for You, which pretty much rides that main riff that Ed plays throughout the song.

The band has pretty much said that everybody brings in stuff to varying levels of completion, and it gets arranged, which according to Ed can be an exhaustive process. They write songs in very different ways, either from someone doing music and lyrics on their own or having it spring out of a jam, or parts coming together from several band members. That's why I really hope there's some kind of version of Beatles Anthology one day for PJ; their creative process is probably very interesting.

Hey I didn't know there was a NAIS demo, pretty cool, jeff sounds different to.than he thought he would. It sounds a lot like the final track to me minus mikes geetar. I really hope there a couple of weird, or atmospheric if you will, Jeff tracks on the new album.

So if a song is written by one band member, but arranged by the rest of the band or ed its still credited to the original writer? I don't know why I'm thinking about this.
