I do wish it wasn't Live and Loud as the live DVD. I've had a VHS tape of that since the day it aired, so it's an upgrade, but not one that I really need to revisit.

The bonus tracks are where it's at!

The broadcast version was incomplete, though, so I'm really looking forward to seeing the whole show.

Yup..and despite having seen it air back in the day, I haven't owned a VHS tape since 2000.

For the vinyl nerds
This 20th Anniversary 3LP Edition of the unwitting swansong of the single most influential band of the 1990s, features the original album remastered at Abbey Road Studios on 2 LPs and for the first time available at high fidelity 45 RPM, plus a 33 1/3 RPM LP of all the remastered B-sides, never-before-heard mixes and bonus tracks from the original album release. All 3 LPs are on 180 gram vinyl.
Now, I'm reading this as you'll get the remastered album and a disc of extras. Not Steve's remix of the whole record, as that's only part of the CD set, right?

Albini had issues with how they mastered his mixes for the original CD (too much compression and narrowed stereo separation) but that's a different matter.
Yeah....the original master. Wasn't their a version of Rape Me on With The Lights Out that was the original mix? Sounded a lot better to these ears.

No, that was an entirely different version recorded with Jack Endino in 1992.

Of course. Most of the Rio session appears on "With The Lights Out", but they excluded "Very Ape" & "Scentless Apprentice" which were represented by crappy demo versions. I'm guessing that both of those will be in the "In Utero" box.

I highly doubt that. Besides, it didn't need to be a full show. It would've been nice to do something like Touring Band with songs taken from different performances.

No, seriously, there is no other In Utero-era performance that was filmed in full.

Nirvana weren't Pearl Jam, their shows were never assiduously recorded by the band. Even as far as audio, only a handful of shows were multi-tracked, so the pool of shows that could be mixed for professional release is relatively small.

I wonder why there's nothing from Seattle '94? Instead we get a repeat of the Live & Loud audio.

No doubt they are saving other soundboard recordings for possible later release and the format with the Nirvana 'vault' releases so far has been DVD and audio of the same shows i.e. Reading 92, Paramount 91.

While it can be frustrating as a fan... I kind of like this aspect of Nirvana... The fact that there are so few pro-quality shows out there just adds to the 'legend' in a way.

The guy running this blog does pretty quality info and has sourced a tracklisting from Amazon France.

Wow, that looks crappy. Wish there was more info re: the 2013 mix. Maybe that's Steve's?
