Watched the first two episodes of "The Terror" on AMC, starring Mance Rayder and Lane Pryce. Pretty good. I've had the novel on my Kindle forever but never got around to reading it, so hopefully this remains good enough that I won't have to.

I came here to ask about this. I loved the book, but somehow missed that this was premiering last night

I don't know how it stacks up to the book, but I really enjoyed the first two episodes (Go For Broke, and Gore). Tons of atmosphere, horror that is grounded in reality while also hinting at the possibility of supernatural shit, bear attacks, spooky Eskimos -- it all worked for me.

The Roseanne premiere was a big hit in the ratings. Will & Grace is considered a hit at 3/10 and Roseanne's last night were 5.1/18. In today's tv landscape those are considered huge numbers. It will be interesting to see how much of a fall off there will be next week.

I turned it off after 2 minutes - the switch to HD from the old look and the audience laughter made it unwatchable no matter how good it was. Plus the acting seemed really off as well.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Roseanne was really good. Genuinely funny, solid writing, still challenging and engaged with the culture - not just easy liberalism. Pacing was a little off, but I think they’ll settle into it as it goes.

Caught up on Rise. I goddamn LOVE this show. It's Friday Night Lights but for theater kids and it's just wonderful.

Watched the first, and you are spot on there. It does a great setting up the story to come.

Seemed exactly like the original show to me, just with an HD rig. Which doesn't mean it was good. The pacing of shows that use laugh tracks hasn't felt right to me since the early aughts; Seinfeld is the only one that still holds up for me, probably because I'm laughing along with the laugh tracks like 75% of the time.

Second episode was better than the first, way less stiff and thankfully not bogged down in all the Trump/Clinton stuff. I just might stick with this.

Already renewed for another season.

One minor complaint about the show. For all the money they obviously spent on the set, no one seems that cold.
