I don't understand the ending. Did her eyes change colors when he was hugging her, or what?

Re: Annihilation
A lot of people seem to view it as a psychological thing, but I actually read it as very sociological.bune wrote: Posting so I can find it later since Twitter search stinks.

Re: Annihilation
Finished the book last night and am still chewing on it. Not sure what I think yet.
The sci-fi/horror elements never really landed for me. Area X felt both over-described yet under-developed.
At times it reads like an extended, multi-layered metaphor for grief and/or depression. Like, it's purely psychological, in the Biologist's head. None of the shit is actually happening.
But from what I understand books 2 and 3 go into greater detail, which would complicate/negate that interpretation.

Re: Annihilation
Book 2 is from a completely different perspective: The government entity tasked with monitoring the area.
Book 3 is from several perspectives and is the one that actually tries to explain some backstory.
A lot of people don't like 2 because they wanted a sequel to 1. There are parts with the person

Re: Annihilation
I'm shocked they made a movie at all considering the source (a very weird book) and the studio that's been making some really dumb decisions.

Re: Annihilation
A fun, light, yet ultimately forgettable book that never had me interested in a sequel becomes a dull, obvious, shopworn, and inconsequential film. There are things to like about both but neither are gripping or satisfying enough. I hope there is no film sequel.

The critics and some people liked it. But that doesn't matter. The money part is what matters.VinylGuy wrote:I was talking about me actually. I wont see another. But still i dont see how they could do another one really, everyone seemed to hated or be bored by it and it didnt made money so...
