That part where Rey almost accidentally kills the monk people really took me out of it. Big eye roll.

I can sort of enjoy the Ewoks. At least they were useful. Although the movie (ROTJ) had been better if they went to Kashyyyk.

Thinking about it more....
The porgs, the humor, and the Hux/poe joke....
Without that stuff this would be a super depressing movie.
Luke rejecting his hero status and dying at the end of the film, snoke being split in half, the resistence being withered down to nothing,, further fall to darkness by Ren, Rey finding out she is a nobody....Some heavy shit.

Perhaps you are on to something. Those that liked the movie, all seemed to have enjoyed the humor. While those that didn't like the movie, didn't like the humor. It's important for the overall feel.

I dont agree. I dont like most of the humor. Specially the Hux joke which i think is the lamest thing in the movie.

Johnson has revealed he’s gotten death threats.
Some serious fucking assholes out there. We spoke about this the other day. Anyone who voiced an opinion not liking the film got swept up with the hateful racist white supremicist fragile bastards. This isn’t that.
Nobody should get death threats for anything

It feels like it. Maybe Johnson does get the final say, but he has to try to please everyone and in the process the movie loses its identity. I don't expect a Star Wars movie these days to be any different.dimejinky99 wrote:tree_ wrote:I'm not a big fan of any other Star Wars movie, either... but this movie comes off as more disjointed than the rest. Bombs fall in empire strikes back. In zero gravity.
How about the space wizard who can project his likeness across space?
Or all the explosions and whooshing space ships?
Why am I bothering, do Fuck off.
It’s definitely definitely not movie by committee. Watch the Director and the Jedi. You’ll see it’s all Johnson and pretty much in control and final say on absolutely every single decision. Down as far as tiny little details you’ll never even see like background extras and props.

Suggest you watch the doco in question and it will quickly disavow you of that notion.
