The key line for me in buying in was "But instead of just trying to cash in on our memories, it has the spirit of a project put together by people who enjoyed playing the game."

when i heard they were making a movie about fucking rampage, i kind of threw up on the inside. but then i saw the trailer a few months ago (i think before star wars) and i was sold, because it did seem like it was aiming for the very spirit of the game - mindless fun and destruction - and not trying to be anything it shouldn't be. seeing the reviewer say the above gives me even more hope that this will just be simply fun while not being completely insulting.
