were they trying to make the song easier for Matt or something?

I acknowledged being in the mega minority with that take, but I stand by it.Monkey_Driven wrote:Yeah, that version blows.bodysnatcher wrote:it's the worst.cutuphalfdead wrote:I hate this version so fucking much.PHATJ wrote:I know I’m in the mega minority on this, but I’m partial to this version of In My Tree. The very worst thing about the rearranged In My Tree is they got Jack on stage during that year...and made him play the new version.

Re: No Code: Official Album Thread
As someone who thinks No Code is their best album, and firmly on team Jack, I don't mind the re-worked IMT. Sure, the NC version and live versions in '96 and '98 with Jack are best, but I thought it was an interesting take on it. When Matt is behind the kit though, the way it was played in the 2000 tour is probably best. More recently, Matt seems to try to emulate Jack's style a bit (starting around 2009 versions I think), which I like better than the 2003 version, but not as much as the 2000 version.

Holy fuck balls, you guys... I just listened-to/watched the Moline No Code performance on YouTube for the first time. That was amazing. Insanely good. I’m kinda blown away actually. It was prime cut PJ. Vintage perfecto. I’m kinda jaw on the floor right now.

This re-paints No Code in a fresh beautiful perspective for me. It’s brand new again and feels so deeply familiar...

That performance is exactly why Pearl Jam is one of the greatest bands ever.
I think I just busted everywhere. This is mildly embarrassing.

I'm with you, it's pretty awesome. The band just nails In My Tree these days; it sounds glorious.PHATJ wrote:That performance is exactly why Pearl Jam is one of the greatest bands ever.

Its kind weird to think that they can write a punk number but they lost the interest to do another song like In My Tree or Who You Are.

When played at low volume, the sped up "Smile" in the Moline video on Youtube sounds just like Steve Miller's "The Joker."
