I played the mission again the first boss in Far Cry 5 over lunch and I almost forgot to eat. It was pretty fun, but took awhile.

I am taking my sweet time with the story, concentrating on as many side jobs, hunting, and fly fishing before I even tackle one of John Seed's kids. I found that by the end of FC4, I was so overpowered and just blew threw anything that wasn't an impenetrable fortress.

I hope to do most of the side missions and other story missions in that area now that I don't have the main threat anymore. How's the fishing?

It's really fun, and it provides a nice respite from the zaniness of the core game. But I have a fantasy in which they take the fishing mechanic, and make it the focal point of a GTA/Pokemon mashup open-world game where the primary goal is catching rare fish, and you can terrorize the countryside in your pursuit of special lures and poles.

There's so much potential for an open world Pokemon game.

The only one I played was on N64 and it was awesome. I imagine they've gotten a fair bit better since then?

I think that was the last open world Pokemon game.

Well, Pokemon Go was open world in a sense, right?

Yeah baby, happy GoW week indeed. You guys motivated me to get back into MGS V, shocked I never ended up finishing that game considering how great it was. Been an MGS fan since the PS1 days, can't say V was the best, but probably 2nd. MGS3 is still my all-time fav.

After reading several GoW articles (and having a 4K TV), debating whether to dive in using the Performance Mode or the Resolution Mode, the latter of which evidently drops below 30 FPS during battles. Since the game looks remarkable even without 4k, might go performance to keep things fluid....

I was debating the same thing. I've heard some say the performance mode is almost too smooth. Has a Benny Hill type of feel. May experiment. 30 fps would add to the cinematic feel if you favor resolution.

So excited. Just a few days left, children. How are you with your Norse mythology? I wonder if Thor will be in this.

I don't really know anything outside of what I learned through the Thor movies.

I don't know anything either. I've been reading casually from google research.

Yeah I recall studying a little bit of it in my intro english courses, but yeah I'd say my knowledge is pretty limited. Actually trying my hardest not to read too much about the game to prevent seeing any spoilers.

I think what excites me most (aside from the killer reviews) is all of the comparison's to the Last of Us, not just in terms of gameplay, but also the quality of the story. Can't remember the last time I was into the story of a video game than I was with the Last of Us. Really interested to see how Santa Monica crafted this one in what is now a toned Kratos in a completely new world. Last of Us is prob on my all-time top 5 list

I'm really excited to see all of the things they haven't shown. I feel like very little of the gameplay/story has been revealed.

God of War at the end of this week and the dark souls remaster at the end of May - it's a glorious time for games.
