What do you like in a bar playlist?

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

There was a bar near me that had the full version of Scenes From An Italian Restaurant on the jukebox. And it cost the same as all the other songs. Suckers.

At what point of your drunkenness is music most important?

I think in the middle.

Early on I want good conversation, then, when "the buzz" kicks in, I tend to really react to my surroundings. This is that "oh man, I love this song!" or "look at that fucking sunset, man!" moment.

When I've reached pure drunkenness, I tend to concentrate on specific (sometimes innocuous things) things in conversations.
Mostly, bad music can ruin my buzz and mood.
Music is somewhat important, I can only listen to so much 2010s mumble rap or Spanish music for so long.. a lot of times I play good stuff just to cancel out the crap

Also it's essential to have good tunes on pool or dart night.. I hate shooting with nothing on in the background

Just play a bunch of songs from The National and you’ll be good to go.

I agree that he’s a very limited singer in terms of range, but he works perfectly for that band. And I think he writes great lyrics.

His studio voice, I love. His live voice leaves much to be desired.

Agreed. Definitely prefer them in studio. Seen them live a few times, but it's never a pressing issue when they come through town

I haven’t seen them live (which I absolutely want to do ASAP) but I did see El Vy and Matt was pretty good that night. But I think actually being there might play into that. If I heard the concert recording I might feel differently.

...to the bathroom because the singer is shit!

But seriously folks, he's one of the worst popular singers I've ever heard and I struggle to understand how he's been able to connect with so many listeners.
You and I are on a bit of a roll lately. Our union is almost completely mended! I feel like Missoula would be the final suture. It's really a damn shame I can't be there.

Yeah lol @ the notion that the only reason anyone would enjoy Bon Jovi or Britney Spears is irony
