Yeah, but in the first post with the "official rules" he says that the only covers that are fair play are ones that have studio versions, no?Tj wrote:I thought that to so I looked at the rule, and because of the Pj20 soundtrack it would be okay
F#&&in up would be okay based on live on 2 legs. The rule reads this-Anything on a random album/compilation/soundtrack attributed to pearl jam
2013 song tournament A: Thejambi Wins!

Unfortunately it looks like "Crown of Thorns" doesn't qualify. It is a Christmas single, and a cover, but not recorded in studio.stip wrote:--Any studio recording from a Christmas single
--Any covers recorded in the studio (no live)

Covers have to have been recorded in the studio according to the rules.

I thought falling down was against the rules at first but

Oh yeah? I know it sounds cheesy but id love to hear studio versions of their most common covers, not a whole album kinda thing, but as Christmas singles and stuff, especially if they are already recorded somewheresuper nintendo chalmers wrote:92Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:The first Christmas single im pretty sureTj wrote:Great choice. Agreed. Crown Of Thorns is a cover without a studio version. No way it should count. Neither should Fuckin' Up or My Way or History Never Repeats.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:The only difference will be crown is a cover but falling down and last soldier for me are originals.super nintendo chalmers wrote:Let me know and I can swap. Figure, it was on an Xmas single and the pj20 soundtrack, plus falling down was fair game. Why not Crown?
If you aren't able to hang around till stip gets here, pm him a replacement in case it isn't ok.

I don't know about the second part, but I agree that it's a great song. Very elegant from a compositional level. It bugs me that there's no one else from the band in it, so it should've been an Ed song, but I have a good spot for it in the playlist.Tj wrote:The End is a gem if it was on No Code eveybody would call it a masterpiece.
