The main guitar "refrain" in this track is almost identical to a Caspain track that I can't put my finger on.run2death wrote:It's pretty fucking dope.

It's the violins at the end of "Hymn for The Greatest Generation."
"Almost identical" is probably a reach.

Another song from the Kin soundtrack. Guessing that's Stuart on vocals.
Full soundtrack out August 31.

Re: Kids Will Be Skeletons (the Mogwai thread)
Almost a year since the release of Every Country's Sun.
New ranking.
Happy Songs for Happy People
Mr Beast
The Hawk Is Howling
Young Team
Come On Die Young
Every Country's Sun
Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
Rave Tapes
Rock Action
I still think it's a strong album and the last four songs are killer.
But there are some "meh" songs in the middle and some of it feels kinda generically "post-rocky" to me. Like they are revisiting sounds instead of pushing ahead. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does feel stagnant in places.

The Mogwai podcast was pretty good. Caught up on all eps. Hope more trickle out over time.

A couple of spins so far.run2death wrote:KIN soundtrack out today!
Initial impression is good, but not spectacular. Favorite tracks are Flee, Donuts, and the title track.
Not as good as Les Revenants and Atomic, but solid.

Been spinning the Zidane soundtrack a lot recently.
It's better than I initially gave it credit for. Black Spider, 7:25, Half Time, I Do Have Weapons and Black Spider 2 are all great.

I'm not a gearhead, but this is a cool interview with Stuart about Mogwai's arsenal.

Aw man, Kevin Davis is right. They missed a golden opportunity with already having a song called "Secret Pint." No need to make a pun, and it would sound a lot cooler.

Yeah that’s a perfect one. Especially if it’s going to be so limited and hard to find

Re: Kids Will Be Skeletons (the Mogwai thread)
After a year and a half with Every Country's Sun, I feel comfortable calling it a (lower) midtier album.
Don't Believe the Fife has become my go-to track from the album.
I guess my one concern is that maybe it adheres a bit too much to some post-rock cliches, like the overall sound of Coolverine and the lead guitar noodling on the title track.
