I don’t see them making Rey a Skywalker. I do see them giving her an answer on her parents. Whatever form it takes it will make a lot of people happy and a lot of people angry.

I pretty much expect that from any creative choices within Star Wars going forward. Fucking fickle bunch of fans.

Yeah this made me cry a bit. Wish we’d have gotten just one scene. Somehow. This will do.

Figured it out. When Yodas ghost appears to Luke, he doesn’t have the same echoey reverb as when Obi wans force ghost voice does in Empire or Jedi. Yodas is like right there like he’s sitting right there. Or maybe he is?

Yoda has been a force projection from the beginning. He's been marooned on a distant planet for hundreds of years.dimejinky99 wrote:Figured it out. I’m not so sure. After the ‘mara’ casting announcement I’d say she’s about to meet her mom given the description of the woman they’re looking to cast.

You’ll have to google it but they’re casting a ffemalee character mid 50s called Mara. I’m sure it’s only a place holder name but maybe not.

After seeing Avengers I am even more satisfied with this movie. Kudos to Disney for giving SW directors the ability to make the movie they want to make rather than some think tank.

Yeah don’t worry.
This is a great example of someone being so completely sure of his own opinion he’s missing pretty much everything if it doesn’t have some loaded worth or meaning according to his measure.
Losing faith in this guy and I usually enjoy his views.
He just does a narrative synopsis over all of it and just wants to waffle about he didnt like.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
I've started listening. It's a little disappointing but not entirely surprising that Stephens has some issues. He has a very particular understanding of the themes and ideas that make star wars star wars (a sophisticated, well thought out, and interesting understanding), and this is a left turn for sure. So was Rogue 1, which he also had some issues with (though I found myself agreeing with those, which were more narrative in nature). I haven't gotten very far in so far (15 minutes or so) but given how short this is, and the outline/time line approach he is adopting I am disappointed in the level of sophistication and depth to what he's doing. I expect more from him. I'm not learning much from the analysis
