Foie gras is one of those things that became "cool" with modern chefs. I've seen a lot of menus with stuff like what LV experienced, but it seems that it still works best in traditional French cuisine
Yep. Wrapped in paper and handed to me so I can take it down by the river and eat in on some fresh baked bread.

We went on our annual San Antonio trip last week, which became a tradition for our birthday month starting last year. This time, we went to this pretty festive spot, Hot Joy. Everything inside looked like some hotel in Singapore circa 1950, yet nothing felt forced or kitchy. The booths were really cozy. The cocktails were all boozy and tiki. The menu was, well...here you go. I wanted it all.

That joint is across the street from the theater I work at. I've never eaten there because everyone tells me it's really overpriced.

Goddammit!!! Did you work at all over the weekend?

And they told you right. It’s EXTREMELY overpriced. It was raining and the only place where the kids would eat anything.

She. Her Mac ‘n’ cheese was $22. It was good, but not 22 bucks good.

We really went all out yesterday. Lunch at Giacomo's and dinner at Nancy's Hustle

http://www.giacomosciboevino.com/

https://www.nancyshustle.com/

Lots of root veggies, lots of local Texas cheeses, sirloin, lamb, lentils, bread, butter. Wine, wine, and more wine.

At Nancy's, the Nancy Cakes stole the show. Just look at this..
Spoiler: show

Jesus Christ I miss the food in Illinois. Some friends I was hanging out with took me to a place called El Cochino and it was fucking amazing. The tacos I had were loaded with onions, which I have always vehemently hated, but all the flavors were so balanced that I seriously did not taste them at all, which I can barely wrap my mind around. One of the tacos had pig head with a pineapple salsa and it was just crazy delicious. Oh my god I miss good fooooooood

I'm so happy that you finally understand onions! The world is wide open to you now.
