Okay, hooray, but Neil's records are very insular and self-sustaining. Taking those three tracks off of Everybody Knows and putting them on their own, far from the cornball 'la la la's of the title track or the tender wistfulness of Round and Round, diminishes a lot of what makes them engaging in the first place.

Also, you're working with the most 'mass-invitation' type material available from an artist known for quirkiness, frustrating behaviors, and irrationality. You're getting the least interesting 5% of the picture.

Alright, but it's the only album I have-- other than Sugar Mountain Live, which I got a few years ago, listened to once and really disliked. I'll listen to whatever you guys suggest. So far I'm kind of indifferent to what I'm hearing. And I find his voice annoying, but I can get over that if the songs are good.

Have you ever listened to the album Freedom? Outside of the obvious (Rockin' In The Free World), it's got a lot great songs on it. Wrecking Ball is a gorgeous song and Don't Cry builds and explodes from below in a really interesting and unique way. His demented cover of On Broadway is also great. Rust Never Sleeps is probably my favorite album from him, but Freedom is right behind it, and probably an easier listen.

harvest, on the beach, and zuma paint as representative a picture of young's output as you're going to get. if you're still lukewarm after these three albums, don't waste your time giving later albums a try.
