Did Reid seriously call a customer “some asshole” because she asked for some water? What the fuck is that? You guys really seem like dicks, holy shit.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

i felt like joe's story was way worse because it was an overtly aggressive and demeaning move that was probably really upsetting to the immigrant delivery guy, whereas reid's was more of a pedantic power struggle in his mind, but the customer probably just looked at her half-full water glass, thought "dick", and immediately got on with her life.
Well yeah obviously Joey’s was worse but still. I feel like I’m getting some pretty disturbing insights into the minds of RM.

the perception is that people come here to act like assholes, but what if it's actually everyone trying to be their best selves?

I don’t know what to say, really. There’s just no time for water in the bar biz.

This is beyond stupid to expect everyone to know. Humans get thirsty. Even in bars, believe it or not.

If only there were self serve urns that we keep full for customers in equidistant areas around the bar...

Working in the bar/restaurant industry for any length of time just makes you an asshole. There is nothing you can do about it.

Mine wasn't any kind of peak behind the curtain. It was a terrible, inexcusable, moment. A giant mistake. But that's not common or normal behavior for me. I lost my temper and immediately regretted it and still hate myself for it.

Ash was right in that my thinking about the knocking was off because I was taking for granted that civilians would feel the same way about it that all BO workers feel. Yesterday, I adjusted my expectations with every single person who came in and there were no issues.

It's easy to forget that not everyone who comes in understands how my job works. Patients is key and I forgot myself in a mean and disgusting way. But it was also a powerful reminder.
