I don’t like Ed’s voice in the TMR version. Biased towards Dublin.

Avocado is ready - first album to have all versions selected from the year in which it came out.

As for Of The Earth, JWB was able to improve the quality of the TMR version somewhat so that got it over the line

It has been almost 13 years since the Green Habit Compilation was put together by the
Red Mosquito Forum community. As the band has now been together for double that length
of time, an update or sequel to this collection was well overdue. Hundreds of official
bootlegs later (including numerous 'vault' releases from the pre-bootleg era), every
song has been put up for review.

Red Mosquito forum users were invited to nominate and debate their favourite versions
of each song, for me to then go away and listen to each to make a final decision:
http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtop ... =15&t=8556

There were a number of criteria for picking a definitive live version: sound quality,
correct lyrics, no guitar flubs, full band (if that is how the song was recorded in
the studio), electric rather than acoustic (again, if that is how the song was recorded),
and original era/drummer where possible (unless later versions had something really
special). Basically, if you had to represent the essence and power of each song through
one single live version - which would it be?

After a LOT of deliberation, this is what we came up with. Thank you to everyone for
your suggestions and for the discussion to date. This will be a constantly evolving
collection, so will be reviewed as new shows are played or released from the vault.
The best known source for each track has been used, and remastered by JWB only where
required to provide the smoothest possible listening experience.

I'd add the Just Breathe from SNL that was on the PJ20 soundtrack.

Santa Cruz from telluride has completely different lyrics, right?

Absolutely impressed with Of the Esrth sound. Hope you could remaster full Thirdman record in that way

It’s magical

It does indeed - ‘Santa Cruz’ is substituted for ‘Telluride’ in the chorus, and there are a handful of other changes (e.g. ‘mountains’ instead of ‘beach’).

The only other performance was at Bridge School 2010, but we obviously only have an audience source for that (a decent one from memory).

What do you think folks - soundboard with swapped lyrics, or audience with correct lyrics?...

unless the audience recording is truly exceptional or JWB can work his magic I'd go with the soundboard so as not to risk the flow of the album.

What about Ed solo? I thought he played it at least once...

He's played it 10 times but once again, audience source only.

I'll wait to see if any other strong opinions come forward but it's looking like soundboard wins. The audience is decent but far from remarkable.

This disc is coming together a lot more easily than others.

The only track I'm not really sure of is The Fixer - at the moment Brisbane 2009-11-25 is the front runner...

I did consider this one - it is the only version available that hasn't been drop-tuned.

The fake crowd noise though is just too horrible...

Loving the avocado disc :) any plans on carrying this collection on after you've finished with the albums Ridleybradout and JWB? Personally I'd love to here a live acoustic set and a complete improvs, covers and other rarities

There is going to be a two-disc covers set to go with this. It will include all covers that have been performed over say 10 times.
