they're fucking up and making it way too complicated to understand.

as far as i know:

Existing Google Play Music subscribers will be able to continue using the service exactly as they do now, plus get access to both YouTube Music and YouTube Premium. The only difference is the pricing, which can vary between users. Early Play Music subscribers will continue to pay $7.99 per month, while those who signed up later at the $9.99 per month pricing will continue to pay that.

i dunno why you'd want access to both Google Play Music AND Youtube Music. But I digress.

The biggest issue for me is that I think Play Music peeps are gonna lose their ad-free YouTube benefit.

Well that and I don't like the YouTube Music UI.

i have a feeling it will all, eventually, be consolidated. it might be 5 years from now, but i can see them doing away with GPM altogether, and moving everything to Youtube Music, so listening and watching music is all in one robust app. this period now will be a good testing ground for their retention and adoption rates, and it keeps them in good graces with current GPM subscribers while they figure out how to port everything into one.

I just saw the "emotional ballad" version of "We're Not Gonna Take It" that Dee Snider recorded for some cancer charity. What a strange thing.
