Songs that should be played more often (and some far less)

Post by PHATJ »

I know that PJ has this incredible history of playing long, long shows with deep album cuts and varied set lists. I am truly thankful for this. It is probably one of the reasons the band has managed to stay together for so long and build a very strong hard core fan base. All that being said, we all know that there are songs they play far too often (I'm looking at you Even Flow) and songs that get criminally little love (cough cough Tremor Christ). So the question is this: If you had to choose one song from each album for Pearl Jam to permanently quit playing (or at least play a shit ton less) and one song from each album that you'd like to hear far more often, what would they be?

TEN
Less: Even Flow
More: Deep

Vs.
Less: Elderly Woman
More: Go

Viatlogy
Less: Better Man
More: Tremor Christ

No Code
Less: Lukin (although I really love this song but it seems like the only one played with regularity.)
More: Hail Hail

Yield
Less: Given to Fly
More: Brain of J. (close second, No Way)

Binaural
Less: Insignificance (I know I'm in the minority here, but I never really cared for this song, and I had to pick one)
More: Breakerfall (probably in the minority here too)

Riot Act
Less: I Am Mine
More: You Are

Pearl Jam
Less: World Wide Suicide
More: Marker In The Sand

Backspacer
Less: Just Breathe
More: Force of Nature

B-Sides/Covers (Choose Three)
Less: Yellow Ledbetter, Baba O'Riley, Rockin' in the Free World (we've heard them 10,000 times each)
More: In The Moonlight, Wash, Slow Lukin

TEN
More: Garden
Less: Even Flow (though, my friends, when would you use the bathroom? Maybe a topic for another thread)

VS.
More: W.M.A
Less: Blood (I love this song, and know I may be in the minority here, but especially the past few tours, it hasn't packed the same punch for me)

Vitalogy
More: Tremor Christ
Less: By default, Better Man

No Code
More: Smile
Less:

Yield
More: No Way
Less:

Binaural
More: EVERYTHING except Soon Forget
Less: Soon forget (because usually the crowd takes this time as "scream as loud as you can time" and the song has been ruined nearly every time I've heard it live, so why bother.

Riot Act
More: Ghost
Less: Thumbing My Way (as some have said usually a setlist killer)

S/T
More: Inside Job
Less: Comeback (see Thumbing My Way)

Backspacer:
More: Force of Nature, Johnny Guitar
Less: Nothing...yet, album is still too young.

Bsides/Covers
Less: The Big 3 (YL, B O'R, RITFW) Though I do feel these have kind of become part of the Pearl Jam tradition, so I don't hate them by any means.
More: Education, Hard to Imagine, In the Moodlight

Yup. Drop the damn covers, and play PJ songs, preferably from Vitalogy, No Code, Yield, or Binaural.
