It's crazy that it didn't occur to me that this is the first Star Wars film without 3P0 & R2.

My kid brought me a picture of R2 in the space port a the beginning, but i can't find it now. It seemed like R2, but I have no idea, could have been a different color.

I thing 3PO is definitely not in it, b/c Anthony Daniels played a different part so he could claim to be in everything.

It was clunky but the reason I think is this is life under imperial control. Han lives in a control zone as we know so his and many others names are probably on a no fly list so he can’t reveal his true surname to the imperial officer.

The novelisation will probably go into it more.

Hardly. I have problems with it all over the place. I’d just rather focus on the good stuff than engage in the constant complaining about everyfuckingthing all the time bullshit which seems to have infected society and somehow become the norm.

TLDR they set up control zone at the start of the film. The two leads at that point then have to bribe their way out. That tells you certain people aren’t allowed leave. For whatever reason.
