Lately it's been:

Shovels & Rope
Nick Cave
Flamin' Groovies
Bored Nothing
Lower Plenty; and
Billy Bragg

Also getting back on a PJ kick, but that's mainly because of the touney going on.

Laura Marling.

I have a fetish for pop songs, and I've been into the last few Daft Punk songs

I seem to run a constant rediscovery loop with a certain subset of artists. Currently: Nina Simone. God DAMN I love that woman.

I really like Laura Marling too--I was just listening to her album today.

Also, William Tyler--I just ordered his first solo album after falling in love with his new one.

Laura Marling is pretty good. I really like I Speak Because I Can and the others are solid. My wife really dislikes her so it's in the car listening only.

Yup, that latest Laura Marling album is really good.

Also into this great Argentine singer-songwriter, Maria Pien:

This is a very tough question for me. In the past few monthes several friends have asked me who I was into except for Neil Young. I found it very hard to give them an accurate answer. I tend to listen to a lot of artists instead of focusing on a few, and even when some band puts out an album I really really love I'm usually less enthusiastic about their other releases, so it feels a bit wrong/deceptive to say I'm into them (Kurt Vile is one recent example, I'm into Smoke Ring For My Halo big time but I'm not really into him).

My last.fm for the last 12 monthes doesn't paint a very accurate picture either:

1 Primordial
2 Red Tail Ring
3 Grouper
4 Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
4 Witxes
6 Rome
7 Benoît Pioulard
8 Alela Diane
9 Blackout Beach
10 John Zorn

Actually it is kind of accurate, but only if we're talking about what kind of music I'm into (metal, ambient/drone, folk/singer-songwriter for the most part) rather than which bands per se (main exception here is Primordial, I'm definitely into them). Also, these stats only reflect what I play at home, hence it's focused on newer stuff, when older stuff I still listen to is usually played in the car or on actual records, where it doesn't scrobble.

So yeah I guess once again I haven't really answered the question.

they arent really similar to either of those, but if you havent checked out shovels and rope yet then you really should, their album "o be joyful" is great and if you get the opportunity to see them live then you have to, they put on a great show

Due to some of the complete series sets and/or boxsets that can be had for cheap, I've been revisiting bands from the past.

Genesis
Electric Light Orchestra
Adam Ant, pretty pumped to see him in concert next month
Blue Oyster Cult
Smashing Pumpkins
Blue Rodeo
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
