I'm finding the lack of information on this album anti stimulating. I'm trying to remember how this compared to the last couple of records......less media discussion, or more? I just can't remember the interest level on an all around basis. Things seem quiet. Am I observing this correctly? It also seems like the first single was released somewhat prematurely......of course this might all just be mindless speculation on my part.

I think there is a longer gap here. I also suspect that (god help me) it probably makes sense to think of the marketing strategy as a wave--since there is a long time there will be crests and lulls--with the little bits of information out now seeds (permit me to mix metaphors) that will be harvested later.

Again, they had to start things now because of the tour. They are hardly in a full fledged pre album build up yet (I suspect)

Hey, some of us here work in marketing/communications and we're not all bad guys.

My best guess is that the band is working with a marketing vendor, and PJ seems to pick and choose tactics it likes, but has not fully embraced a full-fledged strategy, which is a common mistake brands make. The result is a mismatch of tactics (countdown) that don't work well together.

In good marketing, it's always important to put the needs of the customer first (some great brands have an empty "customer" seat in a conference room every time they discuss a new product launch - the seat reminds them to always question how this will affect the customer). The customer chair was not present during the countdown debacle.

Probably on par. I have a feeling there will be 1-2 songs on it that I will like better than anything off those 2 albums though.

If I end up placing it above Backspacer, Avocado and Riot Act, I'll consider it a huge success at this point in their career.
