So it was stated in the movie that Solo was helping the Rebellion with the coaxium? Was this when he was talking to that Enfys Nest? I might have missed it.

at the end, Enfys nest says that's what she's doing with the money. A bit on the nose

This coaxium represents... hope. Some kind of... new hope.

Maybe it's the decades difference in filmmaking between the OT and the ST/ stand-alones, but it seems like the newer moves seem to express their motives more in actual character dialogue than the older ones.

hope and stuff in Rogue One
Sparking the fire stuff, Rose's love is a battlefield or whatever in TLJ
more hope stuff in SOLO

It's like everyone in the GFFA is monologuing or something.

The dialogue in the OT is pretty terrible a lot of the time. Perhaps not in the same way - explicitly stating theme - but terrible none the less. Dialogue isn't the reason those films are beloved.

Durd please identify those exact qualities which qualify as “reasons people love this” so we can understand the entire scope of things that do not fall under said umbrella.

I’m kidding, don’t do that. Everybody knows that Star Wars was made great mostly by Harrison Ford‘s high quality dope and the total derision he had for the lines he was reading.

The absence of both is why this movie sucked. Thank you, good night.

Maybe I'm wrong. If I am, I have full faith in the RM brain trust to let me hear all about it.

I...I just wanted to say I watched the movie and talk about it but wading through 6 pages of that conversation was daunting.

So I'm just going to say I watched it. It was really dark in scenes - especially at the maw, I could barely tell what was going on, even leaving out the terrible editing - and there were quite a few places where it was a little too on the nose, yes.

It wasn't terrible, but it certainly felt too safe. And this is how Ron Howard is going to make Willow 2?

It's like everyone in the GFFA is monologuing or something.
Rose gives one line at the end, and it is in direct response to Finn asking why she stopped him from killing himself. It’s an exclamation mark punctuating an action beat, not a monologue. R1 is the only one of those movies that really speechifies

Stop being an apologist, Stip. Rose's love is a battlefield.

This fandom can be really, really nauseating. Kelly Marie’s Instagram was awesome, and she had to delete it because no matter what she posted (99% of it not SW-related), the comment section was flooded by bastatds posting hateful racist misogynistic shit.

If you want an example of what that looks like, go see the comments on Kathleen Kennedy's happy birthday post today on twitter. Fuckin appalling.

They really fucked this movie by not waiting until Christmas.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

That's terrible. I can't imagine posting stuff like that to actors or creators of products I do not care for.

I'm disappointed in the new SW stuff, but I keep it to these forums.

For sure. When I went it was me, my girlfriend and 2 other couples in the entire theater. This was timed and marketed terribly.

I totally understand that Disney has Marry Poppins to worry about and they didn't to "Solo" that project by putting it up against Solo in December. But they should have moved Solo to December.
