"fairway ace"
The worst part was, it wasn't even a 2. My drive slipped off my fingers and hit the tree 10 feet away and just dropped. Then my 2 shot I accidentally anhyzered when I needed to break left. Then on my 3rd shot I just aimed for the green. There was a tree right before the green blocking my direct line to the pin, so I went to the left on a forehand shot, and it broke right onto the green, bounced off the ground and landed in the basket.
i had one sunday that i was just wanting to get close, but i was under a tree and had to throw real low, it ended up hitting a little hump about 15 feet from the basket and popped up and hit the chains but went on through. it was only from about 70 feet but even though it didnt go in it gave me something to be excited about on a terrible round

I think I hit every tree on the front nine.

The 17th green is on a hill. I was putting for par and missed and it rolled down and I had to 2 putt it from there.

We've had a lot of rain in CO. A couple weeks ago I followed around on a gorgeous private course. Bear Mountain in Bailey.

I shot my best round in a while today.

A couple weeks ago I spent about 3 hours with JohnE McCray, who is a pro that lives locally. He showed me some things I was doing wrong, talked about the mental game, etc. throwing the way he showed me hurts my shoulder, so I've worked out a modified throw that isn't perfect, but is better than before, and my putting seems to be improving all the time.

I have gone to Rivers off the tee almost exclusively, and picked up three of the RFF Wizard putters that I've been working with. Good stuff!

I've been pretty discouraged lately, my game is a mess, i have no aim at all and everything either breaks way too hard left with a disc that is meant to break left and or too hard right with a disc that is meant to break right. i might have figured part of the problem out at the end of my round today and will see if it helps tomorrow, but if its not my problem then Im really not sure how to correct anything.

Maybe you're overthinking it, Doc. Considering all the things that come into play with this sport it requires thinking, but all athletes get into moments where they overthink and stop trusting themselves. A good healthy dose of being able to shake off a bad throw or bad round as part of your mental game is no doubt just as important as any part of the game.

Practicing throws without a pin as an objective might help loosen up that discouragement. Let them fly and see what they do. Also, getting some time with a seasoned pro helps I'm sure! That beings said, have you had any luck finding a local club?

Scott - I had a good forehand throw with my River a few weeks ago. I think it was more luck than skill though. The River has been that disc that I know could be amazing for me if I could just get some more practice with it. In my hands, it's been an unpredictable firecracker. I've been using a Comet and a Sole - a lot. Scrapped my Ridge as a putter because it's just stupid. Works great for midrange, but it makes a fool of me as soon as I'm 20-30 feet out.

I definitely need to get out to a park and just practice throwing so i can get used to how to make the disc do what i want it to, once Im at a course, i usually can't bring myself to try new things, i just do what i have been doing whether good or bad. And as far as i can tell there are no clubs around here.

Today is probably the perfect example of needing to practice away from a course, yesterday i shot a pathetic +26 and even though i was partially struggling because of the heat, it was mostly just that i was off, but i played there again this morning and shot a +12 which might be my best round there ever, and as far as i can tell i don't actually do anything different. So who knows if ill throw bad or good next time i play, but if i spend an hour throwing in a park just to then i might actually gain some confidence

It better be a good one, not one that's just a bunch of open field shots.

I've been researching a few. I'll have a good one picked out by then. At least it will be a new course for all of us.

You haven't played any around the charlotte area? It looks like there are quite a few looking at dgcoursereview, so we probably have a bunch of different style courses to pick from

I guess I'll get some playtime in New Mexico and AZ in November. Courses are being plotted.

Doc - just have fun. Too bad about the clubs. You're always welcome to come out and play with Throw Colorado.

If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I'm heading to Sarasota to play 2 or 3 new (to me) courses....

Props to my wife for letting me bail on family events on a holiday!
