For hardcore, I'd say Minor Threat's Out of Step, Bad Brains' debut or DK's Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.

Raw Power just has so much snarl, swagger, darkness, and attitude. The rock n roll swagger of it really gets me.

Dead Boys and Ramones are certainly personal favorites but something about Raw Power just puts it over the top for me. Punk rock baby.

I like Black Flag's live act, but there albums are actually pretty terrible.

I know it's a controversial album for 'Mats fans, but All Shook Down is my fav Replacements album. Tim is a pretty close second.

Counterpoint: Raw Power is easily the weakest of the three original Stooges albums.

Put "I Got A Right" and "Gimme Some Skin" on there and it's a lot stronger.

I rank it in the middle behind Fun House.

I’ve heard it. It’s fine. But I could just listen to Raw Power instead, you know?

A significant factor in my preference: Ron Asheton > James Williamson.

Williamson's guitar on Raw Power is just a bit too standard rock n' roll, Asheton was tapping into something more primal.

Let It Be is the perfect rock record. It's so raw yet oddly beautiful.
