Re: Food Dilemmas
So if I haven’t opined on this yet: Ketchup with some sriracha mixed in is good.

Re: Food Dilemmas
Please keep moral superiority out of this. For fuck's sake, how many times do I have to tell you that I don't believe in morality and by extension any notion resembling moral superiority.tragabigzanda wrote:but you said "you want to feel good about yourself while drawing invisible lines" first, which both ignored any intelligent dialogue around the topic while also suggesting that i was in fact the one who was being ignorant due to some misplaced moral superiority.durdencommatyler wrote:Laughing at someone and then saying "You have no fucking clue what you're talking about" isn't a good way to have a good discussion about a topic. Just for future reference.
Killing a thing causes the thing pain. Causes stress. Causes trauma. Causes death. There are countless scientific studies on this, that detail the neurological and physical effects of even the most mundane and "humane" methods. Feel free to research them. What other reason is there to pretend there is a humane way to kill a thing beyond one's individual comfort zone and justification? You have decided for yourself that there is an acceptable level that you can live with and your'e struggling with another. Isn't that the whole fucking point of your original inquiry? So, there you go. You want someone to justify it to you. You're looking for a way to continue to consume something you love. You don't want to give it up. You want validation. Which is fine. I totally get it. I go through the same thing all the time with Woody Allen movies.
I eat meat. I will always eat meat. I have no problem killing an animal for food/shelter/clothing/etc. Or to put it as the poet Loathedvermin once did "I don't give a fuck" (since that's apparently language you can respond to and respect). I'm not judging you or anyone else for eating meat. But you know what I find disingenuous? Pretending like the meat you consume doesn't come from a living fucking thing that was actually SLAUGHTERED for you. It was killed. And I'm not saying there isn't some degree to the level of brutality in how an animal is raised and then killed. Of course there is. But at the end of the day, you aren't eating meat that died of natural causes. Or maybe you are. If you are, then all apologies. But most people don't.
What I'm saying is that between all the nuance and subtlety is the fact that a thing was murdered -- not that it died, but that it was murdered -- for you to enjoy. What I'm saying is if you're okay with one level of murder, you should be okay with any other. If you're okay with one extreme, you should be okay with the other because in the end, it's all the same. Acting like you have some sort of disagreement with one method is far more disingenuous to me. As I said before: in for a penny, in for a pound. What difference does it make other than the consumer's conscience and level of individual comfort -- or perhaps what you would call moral superiority? There is none.
As always, though it needn't be stated outright, I'll remind you that these are the views of the durdencommatyler account only and do not necessarily reflect the views of RM or any other poster in the community. You obviously disagree. Fine. So be it. You have that right and I won't fight you on it. Believe whatever you want. You asked a question and I gave you my honest response. Then you attacked me for it because... well, because that's apparently what you do when you don't like a response you get from me. So whatever. It's no skin of my sack, pal.
Or maybe you only want people to reinforce your worldview, not challenge it. If so, I'll forgo responding to any of your posts that I disagree with in the future. Or I'll only respond with those loving and affirmative emojicons that you hate oh so very much (sorry, about that in advance). But I'm just not sure how else to interact with you. From here on out, I'll either agree with a
But all of this is meaningless because, as you've stated multiple times, I'm an idiot simpleton with no understanding of nuance who has no fucking idea what he's talking about. So, if you've made it this far, I guess I should just stay WACKA WACKA WACKA! Peace be with you and go with god.

Yeah, just think of all those tomatoes that could’ve been used for some yummy gravy with braciole.E.H.
