Jesus, these fucking lyrics... these fucking lyrics.

Come out from under our covers
put on your clothes
we’re both sinking tonight
wherever it goes

After somebody hammers
emergency glass
sing in key with the sirens
yer so bad

As the saltwater gushes
into our ship’s holes
don’t you dare jump without me
I’m not good on my own

You’re not leaving this wreck
We’re both going down with it

There is peace beyond trouble
and I’m desperate to meet you
below the blue surface
in a quiet reprieve

We’re too poor to be precious
so cut off your nose and
come dying with me darling
The bed of the ocean’s

Great tank of disaster
it wrecks who it pleases
the swell pulls me under
come under with me

You’re not leaving this wreck
We’re both going down with it

You’re not leaving this wreck
I’ve got pills in my pocket

Yeah, I'm still really hurting on this one.

The more I listen to his stuff the more I notice the continual flow of 'death by water' references throughout. I suspect that it may be a little like when Joy Division lost Ian Curtis and went back through his lyrics and were a little "Oh shiit...".

Watching lots of these live performance videos I can't help but think on his brother Grant, always at his side, keeping the beat to Scott's amazing words. I know the pain of losing a brother would be terrible, but I'm sad for him also that he's had the joy of performing alongside him taken away as well.

Fuck it.

It’s the only one. EVery single song does something beautiful and heartfelt and true.

It’s my personal favourite. And I listen to it with a probably alarming frequency.

I genuinely feel guilty about not giving this band my money sooner and the fact that I'll never be able to see them live makes me sad.

I feel a powerful connection to Scott's lyrics.

Boy do I hear you. They played a show here last year about a mile from my house and I was all excited for it then couldn’t make it on the night.

I’m still totally gutted about it.

Frightened Rabbit Festival Set Replaced With Mental Health Panel

London's Meltdown Festival replaced Frightened Rabbit's set with a panel on mental health awareness and the music industry after the death of singer Scott Hutchison, The Guardian reports. Hutchison died last month at age 36. His body was found outside Edinburgh several days after he was reported missing. Hutchison was reportedly struggling with depression among other mental health issues.

Frightened Rabbit was scheduled to play Meltdown June 19th at the Southbank Centre in London (this year's lineup was curated by the Cure's Robert Smith). The panel that will be held instead will feature several musicians including Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses, Stefan Olsdal of Placebo and Dizraeli. Christine Brown from the organization Help Musicians U.K. will also participate, while clinical psychologist Jay Watts will moderate the discussion.

"The music industry has seen a number of devastating losses of life in recent years, and increasing numbers of musicians are speaking out in the media and in their songs about struggles with mental health," said a spokesperson for Southbank Centre.

Prior to his disappearance last month, Hutchison posted a string of worrying tweets, writing, "Be so good to everyone you love. It's not a given. I'm so annoyed that it’s not. I didn't live by that standard and it kills me. Please, hug your loved ones." He added, "I'm away now. Thanks."

During the search, Hutchison's Frightened Rabbit bandmates said they were worried about the singer's wellbeing, saying "He may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now."

After his body was found, Hutchison's family released a statement in which they said, "Depression is a horrendous illness that does not give you any alert or indication as to when it will take hold of you. Scott battled bravely with his own issues for many years and we are immensely proud of him for being so open with his struggles."

I'm going to Scotland next year.

I was already looking into a visit to the Castle of Doom Studios and a couple of spots they (Mogwai) started playing at in the early days. I was also thinking about a Celtic game. Would it be weird to take a visit to the River Forth and the Forth Bridge?

I don't really feel like I would be celebrating Scott's death, but kinda matching the places to the songs.

Am I fucked up?

Nah, you're not fucked up. You're just after some form of connection with something that for whatever reason means a lot to you. I get it.

I'd stop and sit for a while if I found myself there for sure.
