I dunno if I've ever seen a western that I really liked, though I like the idea of a western.

Re: Five Favorite...Westerns
Let´s see...i might forget some but this is it:
1- Unforgiven : a modern classic. Eastwood masterpiece.
2_ The searchers: maybe, maybe the best western of all. That final scene with Wayne outside...fuck. such a beauty.
3- The good, the bad and the ugly: Sergio Leone teaches everyone how to shoot a western.
4- Dead Man: Neil young, Lance Henriksen, Jim Jarmusch...
5-StageCoach: incredible action movie. John Wayne again at his finest.
Fuck there are so many cool westerns...i might change that list soon.

if you guys say so, but as far as I'm concerned there may be no great westerns
which makes sense, mind you, when you think about the kinds of people cowboys are.

ohh i see...its a shame you cant seem to enjoy westerns. Most of them speak about the human condition, but a lot of people cant seem to enjoy them.Dev wrote:if you guys say so, but as far as I'm concerned there may be no great westerns

But you need to know, by no means, Unforgiven is a shitty movie.

the truth is I could care less what genre a movie happens to be, I just have found every western I've ever seen either amateurish, simple, or uninteresting.VinylGuy wrote:ohh i see...its a shame you cant seem to enjoy westerns. Watch it again. It's a movie with a lot of heart, and a mournful elegy to the western genre of old, but "hokey" is way off the mark. The Argonaut wrote:As far as Unforgiven goes, I've got to side with dev here. I did not dig that movie. It seemed pretty straight up the middle, mildly hokey Eastwood stuff to me. It's been a long time since I've seen it though, so I can't be too specific in my criticism, but I definitely didn't like it.

I liked Unforgiven a lot, but if I was gonna put an Eastwood movie on this list it would be The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
