That last line is just brutal. :(
i'm not usually a fan of stone's writing, but that is a great verse, especially the last line

Yea this one is intense. Hits too close to home far too often.
I dunno, I like "Sad" a lot but I find the writing in that particular verse hammy, heavy-handed and cluttered. He has to stress the wrong syllable in "replace" to fit the meter. It's a little awkward.

Even out of context, I'm a huge fan of "and this nation's about to explode." That line gives me chills every time, even all these years later.

I think you're right, but it still packs enough punch. I like it. Though it probably suffers from the same symptoms, I also really like "Eleven nights he laid in bed, hoping that dreams would bring her back."

The hammer that I once brought(brung) down
Now hovers over me
Casts a shadow, across, over me.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

Holy shit that's what he's saying?! I was listening to it last night and I couldn't figure it out, emasculate? Immaculate? I dunno what I was going for.

:haha:

Yeah, for the longest time I thought it was "he lit a match, he laid in bed." Which I think is a pretty cool line, actually. But I'm pretty sure it's "Eleven nights." Though, with Eddie, I'm never 100%. Even with a lyrics sheet.

Putting in. Inputting in. Don't feel like methadone.

Definitely sounds right!

I really like 'The little that he sees, is nothing he concedes, it's home.'

I first thought that was "He never masturbates in bed" Freudian
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

Tell the captain this boat's not safe and we're drowning.

I mean, if the boats not safe and they're drowning then the captain is just as fucked as everyone else. The ocean doesn't care who you are if the boat goes down. But if the boat's safe but the crew is drowning, it says a lot more about class-ism which fits the theme of Green Disease better.

The broken seams along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way
