Industrial is more up tempo with a lot of electronics thrown in. And its more theatrical. And has 100% more flame throwers.durdencommatyler wrote:Ah. Interesting. Forgot about that Adema song. That’s a good one. That Crazy Town track!
Team “SOAD is numetal” wins!
I do think we actually have potential for a good tournament here.

After further consideration, I don't know what I was thinking saying Slipknot wasn't Nu Metal. They absolutely were.

Re: Were They Nu-Metal?
It’s basically just metal with elements of hip-hop and melodic hooks/choruses.
That Trapt song was lit too.
Let’s have a tournament or draft teams or something. I’m gonna be wigging out on this stuff for the next few days.

Re: Were They Nu-Metal?
Basically yes, but there are also certain musical elements that I recognize as very characteristically nu-metal. Certain guitar tones, certain riff progressions, that stupid rattly bass sound that was everywhere for a while thanks to KoRn, lyrics that tend to look inward (big reason why I don't really perceive bands like SOAD and RATM as nu-metal, though I'm not super familiar with either)Kaius wrote:It’s basically just metal with elements of hip-hop and melodic hooks/choruses.

And that gloomy vibe. That Hot Topic vibe. That almost Juggalistic vibe.

Re: Were They Nu-Metal?
Those are all great observations, but maybe more aptly thought of as well-worn features within the genre but not necessarily requirements of an easily recognizable nu-metal song. Inward lyrics is hilariously accurate, especially for the more popular songs, but I think there is plenty of cultural commentary on the DEEP KUTZ of these bands.

I swear I almost mentioned ICP and Eminem but I think we are beginning to stretch the musical boundaries a little thin.theplatypus wrote:And that gloomy vibe. That Hot Topic vibe. That almost Juggalistic vibe.
