I really don't mind that slap bass

It's not really a slap bass. It's more of a tuned-so-low-it-actually-rattles-on-the-fretboard thing. You can really hear it in the "Freak on a Leash" chorus

There's a lot of slap in there, too. Take 'Got the Life' for example:



I learned to play a lot of their shit for a laugh. It wasn't very funny.

What I mean is that the slap technique isn't what I react negatively to but the ugly rattle sound

I was surprised how much I enjoyed listening to that second Korn album the other day, though it got a bit wearing after five or six songs. There was a window there when I used to listen to it all the time, but I was over it by the time the third album came out.

It's an interesting, kind of unheralded period in musical history, and it's notable how much this kind of stuff soundtracked my high school years (1996-2000), even in a non-direct way. It was everywhere.
