I am curious about bands like Bush and Silverchair -- those second-wave grunge bands were what I thought of as "post grunge" for a long time; to my ears those bands are much more directly descendants of Nirvana than Creed/Staind/etc. were of Pearl Jam or AIC, which apart from blatantly aping the most cartoonish elements of those bands' vocal styles never really had a whole lot in common with them musically.

I mean, that stuff is clearly of a different aesthetic than the stuff on this list, I'm just wondering about the terminologies.

Yes, exactly. I will not be adding any of those bands. There was definitely short period between Grunge and the true "Post-Grunge" groups in this tournament, which was composed of bands like Bush, Stone Temple Pilots, Everclear, etc. A lot of it may technically fall into the Post-Grunge genre, but really I just think of it as '90s Alternative Rock. I'd say that song by The Flys would also fall into this category.

I mean if you’re gonna add Fear Factory you gotta do New Breed, Demanufacture and Shock before Linchpin.

I don't think so. Everything I'm seeing online indicates that "Linchpin" is their most popular song.

I would like to add one more song because it would prevent us from having a bye round.

I'd say none of these are NU metal. I don't recall the others. Especially the Canadian bands, nothing metal about them.

The difference between a band like Fuel and a band like Lifehouse is that while they both may have ballad-y, sort-of-pop hits, Fuel mainly makes hard rock songs, while Lifehouse really only deals in pop rock.

Yes, I was least certain of Lifehouse. I remember Hanging By A Moment being huge.

The difference between them is large compared to a lot of top post-grunge bands not included. I mean Fear Factory and Three Doors Down, and I’ve got their albums on cd.

Are people going to be voting based on what they think the better song is, or on which of the songs best embodies the era, or on what the worse of the two songs is? I think my criteria is going to be a mix between the second and third options.
